
Harambec was established to continue the struggle initiated by previous generations in the defense and empowerment of Black women and Black non-binary people. As a nonprofit legal entity, we operate under Quebec’s nonprofit organization (NPO) regulations, registered on July 7, 2023, under the Quebec enterprise number (NEQ) 1178899655. Our mission is to combat systems of oppression and foster an environment where the voices, stories, and talents of our community members are recognized and celebrated.
Our mission is to defend and promote the rights of Black women and Black non-binary people in Quebec. We implement academic, community, and artistic initiatives, adopting intersectional and decolonial approaches. Our goal is to work towards the self-determination of our communities and to highlight our political, intellectual, and artistic contributions.
Harambec aspires to become an essential reference for Black women and Black non-binary people. We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive space that resists all forms of oppression, where their voices and experiences are valued and celebrated. We position ourselves as a radical and innovative initiative, offering a unifying alternative to current community organizations. Through a holistic approach, we aim to work towards a radical transformation of our current systems, particularly by mobilizing our communities for a lasting and profound impact.

Harambec is currently looking to fill several positions on its Board of Directors and strategic committees. We aim to complete our team with individuals possessing various expertise and experiences to strengthen our existing skills and support the organization in its strategic directions and achievement of its goals.
