Celebrating Memories: Black Family Gathering Photo Gallery

Here to present the “Imagine & Create: A Family Gathering for Black Futures in Montreal” event with our photo gallery! Held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, this family-friendly gathering was a vibrant celebration of Black families and their children.

Our event was more than just a gathering; it was a continuation of the meaningful conversations sparked at our October 2023 Education Roundtable. As we introduced our upcoming project, Freedom School, a summer camp for Black kids in August 2024, we dreamed together and envisioned a bright future for our children and youth in Montreal.

The objectives of the event were clear: to foster community building, engage in critical reflection, and introduce and gather input for the Freedom School project. Through collective reflections, parent-youth activities, and community connections, participants explored themes of pride, identity, safety, and the future of Black children in Quebec.

As Harambec’s first event specifically centered around families, the Black Family Gathering was a pivotal moment for outreach and community engagement. Participants shared their visions for Black children in Quebec, expressing desires for a learning space that fosters pride, identity, safety, and a sense of belonging.

Now, let’s relive the moments captured in our photo gallery by the talented Rose Napoléon : https://www.abundancebureau.com/

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special event, and we look forward to continuing this journey together towards a brighter future for Black families in Montreal.
