Decentering the Margins: Routes for Liberation

Our co-founder, Marlihan Lopez, participated in the enlightening discussion “Decentering the Margins,” which advocates for a significant shift in both methodology and ideology. This approach moves away from a conventional, mainstream perspective, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and elevating the voices and experiences of marginalized individuals. It critically examines the transition from the periphery to the forefront, highlighting the potential replication of power dynamics, such as the emergence of new centers and power matrices.

The primary objective is to uncover and apply viable and lasting strategies that pave the way for the emancipation of marginalized communities from systemic oppression, thereby nurturing a more inclusive and just society. This paradigm promotes a comprehensive understanding of diverse experiences and challenges the existing norms by proactively striving for social justice and equality.
